In addition to being a fine yoga instructor, David is a caring and sensitive person. His understanding of, and attention to, the limitations and needs imposed by my MS are especially appreciated and helpful. My sessions with him improve my sense of wellbeing. It is a pleasure to have him as a teacher.
At the end of January I walked into a yoga studio in Newton Centre and was fortunate that David was teaching the class. I asked whether he taught private lessons - and have been learning yoga and meditation with David for the past two months. David is knowledgeable, patient and wise beyond his years. He seems to know intuitively when to push me and when to be more gentle in his instruction. Both his calm demeanor and his sense of humor make our lessons a time in my busy week that I look forward to.
With some trepidation I booked a four hour Retreat with David on a Saturday afternoon. I had intended to have another person to share the retreat but that didn't work out. I was definitely apprehensive and wondered what we would do for four hours! I need not have been concerned - we spent the time on yoga, meditation and an exercise in mindfulness - which we had begun discussing and which I am keen to learn more about. We also talked a fair amount about meditation, mindfulness and how I could incorporate them into my life. David has a seemingly endless list of other resources to suggest and he is completely open minded about a variety of yoga, meditation and other health related options. I am very grateful to have met David and highly recommend his classes
Imagine the perfect summer day: sunny, warm, not a cloud in the sky, and a slight balmy breeze. What could make it more perfect? Yoga outside with David Helfand. He immediately asked us what our goal for this session was and his only concern was to meet our needs. His voice was soothing, his personality was fun, and for a beginner like me, he made it easy and enjoyable. I live on a busy street, so my sounds of nature included trucks and motorcycles driving by. I was so focused on David’s voice and my breathing, that all I could hear were the birds chirping and leaves swaying when the breeze came. it was incredible how I was able to tune everything else out, including my stress. I highly recommend David and Conscious Being Yoga for a private session. I’ve been to three of his classes so far and the results are always the same… perfect!
I felt very comfortable in my session with David because of his gentle and confident approach, and his obvious knowledge of healing practices besides just yoga. He is a dedicated teacher and it shows in his enthusiasm and spirit.
David is remarkable in his ability to instruct the way into a pose with clarity and simplicity. He is also thoughtful in making the yoga class a meaningful experience by taking a physical experience and broadening the insights gained through the body in order to make a point about living well.
David is really in tune with what I need and if I can’t sustain the pose, I know that’s okay. I don’t have to push myself so hard to receive the benefits.
